About this Event

The Delaware Introduction to Living Shoreline Design Training is for scientists, engineers, landscape architects, marine contractors and students interested in taking the first steps in understanding shoreline processes and developing natural shoreline stabilization solutions (living shorelines).

This virtual training was developed from the Delaware Living Shorelines Committee annual in-person 2-day training, and boasts 14 instructors from: USFWS, USACOE, Delaware Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control, private consulting firms, and non-profit organizations. Week one focuses on basic concepts of shoreline habitats and living shoreline design considerations, and week two focuses on pulling concepts together to begin the design and permitting processes.

Day 1 - What is a Living Shoreline & Intro to Site Metrics (July 23 (9:00 AM - 12:00 PM))

Day 2 - Understanding Shoreline Habitats to Create Sustainable Living Shorelines (July 24 (9:00 AM - 12:00 PM))

Day 3 - Beginning the Living Shoreline Design Process (July 30 (9:00 AM - 12:00 PM))

Day 4 - Permitting Living Shorelines and Next Steps (July 31 (9:00 AM - 12:00 PM)

The draft agenda is available to view online . Letters of attendance will be provided to those who attend each of the webinars and complete the quiz each day. Once registered an email will be sent out a week prior with links to the webinars, suggested readings and additional resources.
